I Built a Tool for Writers with Writer’s Block — and It Actually Works

If you’ve ever stared at a blinking cursor for 45 minutes wondering how your murder mystery should begin, welcome to the club. I’ve been there, more times than I’d like to admit.

Writer’s block isn’t just about lacking ideas — it’s about drowning in half-ideas. Too many fragments, too many false starts, too much pressure to get it right on the first try.

So I built a tool.
Not another writing course. Not a list of vague “creative hacks.”
An actual tool that sits in Google Sheets and helps you build stories like a crime scene detective.

The Problem: You Know What You Want to Write, But Can’t Get Started

I’m the kind of writer who loves true crime, mystery, thriller — anything with plot twists, unreliable narrators, and red herrings. But when I sit down to write, my brain does this:

  • “Maybe the victim is a podcaster…”
  • “Or maybe the detective is the real killer?”
  • “Wait, is this horror or satire?”
  • [Cue existential dread]

Even with ChatGPT and AI tools available, I found myself writing the same bland prompts. So I built something to
