Bringing Freddy to Life: 3d Printing a Wearable Freddy Fazbear Head

As one of my favorite franchises and after watching the new movie, I decided to push the boundaries of what I have ever printed and try to print Glamrock Freddy from the video game Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.

Until this point, my 3d printing has been making one-piece prints like planters or figures, with my most complex piece being a toy gun that shoots tic tacs (it barely fired the little mint out of the barrel).

Glamrock Freddy’s head would be a massive undertaking. Not only was the head in about 20ish pieces, but my 3d printer has a small print bed, and most of the 20 pieces had to be split into even smaller pieces to fit.

All of the pieces had to be assembled and glued together. It turned out to be a frustrating project at times, but I learned so much doing it, and I think people may find the process interesting.

Five Nights at Freddy’s

Five Nights at Freddy’s started as an incredibly terrifying video game created by Scott Cawthon. The player plays the role of a security guard who watches over an old shutdown pizzeria called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The pizzeria featured animatronics that would entertain children. Freddy Fazbear was the leader of the animatronics in the first game and was accompanied by Chica the chicken, Bonnie the rabbit, and Foxy the pirate fox.

Due to reasons unknown at the beginning of the game, the pizzeria had shut down, and the animatronics that once delighted children fell into disrepair, abandoned.

The animatronics would come to life at night and wander the pizzeria, trying to gain entry into the security guard’s room. We don’t know why, but they really do not like the fact that you (the player) are there. They are relentless in their desire to gain entry to the guard…
